Building Code Research Consultant
Edited and organized industry publications containing damage observations and structural design recommendations following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. Compiled these observations into a Design Recommendation Manual that was influential in re-writing the 1998 UBC.

HOUSEBOAT, Bay Area, CA

Designed and built an interior and exterior remodel for a 1973 Nautaline houseboat. The boat functioned as a home and took into account the least invasive way to impact it’s surrounding ecosystem.
VOLUNTEER WORK
SPOKESPERSON, BETHEL ISLAND CITIZENS GROUP, Northern California Delta
August 2004—October 2006
Lead a local concerned citizens group as they attempted to prevent the large scale development of a subsiding island located behind 150-year old agricultural levees. Compiled research sighting the unique anthropological significance of Indian burial mounds and served as a liaison between tribal representatives and historical foundations as they attempted to preserve impacted artifacts and remains. Wrote and spoke with local legislatures and planning departments to alert them of the public safety issues and negative effects on the destruction of California tribal history. Studied the project’s 30-year old Environmental Impact Report and worked closely with local and state organizations to determine the potentially invasive impacts on the delta’s ecosystem. Made public appearances at local and state governmental levels on behalf of citizens and consulted with a minority legal group as they compiled information for a pro-bono court case with the intent to protect an ancient landmark. Worked with elected community officials to create an emergency response system that took into account the project’s population addition.
